Our Summer Program Workshops are held from 9 am – 3 pm with subject-specific student learning that includes day field trips to enhance learning outside the classroom and to provide students an opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, project, and problem-based learning, teamwork, and collaboration.
Community Offerings
Our summer program also offers a regularly scheduled ‘Family and Friends Night’ for family members and friends of our staff and students to dine with us on the foods that students learned to purchase, grow, prepare and and serve. Students also learn how to work alongside our Master Chef Teachers to prepare and serve a healthy meal to our guests during an evening we use to help build community.
Lecture Series
We invite guest lecturers throughout the school year and during our community dinners to present topics and lead open discussions about the issues that matter to our students, parents, and members of our community. Topics include current events, community issues, bullying, cyberbullying, violence, money management, racism, and sexism to name a few.

community engagement

'We Are Here', featuring a portrait of Rodney Deas co-founder of the Paul Robeson Freedom School. is a public art installation and a celebration of Bedford-Stuyvesant's rich cultural legacy - a testament to its past and present.

We work alongside a community network of international purpose-driven educators, teaching artists, academic thought leaders, influencers, celebrity artists, and industry and technology experts.

Our mindset is that everyone has something to teach you, and that insights and learning can come from different directions regardless of age, role, or tenure.

Our accelerated, collaborative, innovative teaching approach has three (3) key components.

First of all, we use teaching talent with the right open mindset and education to empower our youth.

Secondly, we create many paths to learning using fluid environments, an open mind to technology, and a belief in the accelerated learning potential of our youth,

Our third most important and enduring export is a diverse, receptive, and nurturing network and environment.
